Shauna has been the 3D art teacher at LREI since 2013. In her classes, students explore principles of design and expression through a variety of sculptural materials. From clay to papier-mâché; from functional pottery to figurative sculpture, her students learn techniques and build skills while exploring creative ideas. In addition to teaching, Shauna is an advisor and a member of the High School Admissions Committee. Shauna received her BFA from the University of San Francisco and California College of the Arts, and her MFA from the New York Academy of Art. She has taught ceramics, drawing and painting to both adults and children since 2005. When not in class, she can be found painting in her Hoboken art studio.
James joined the faculty at LREI in 2007. He teaches Studio Art for 9th-12th grade with an emphasis on traditional materials and old school techniques. In addition to teaching, James is chair of the visual arts department and High School faculty representative on the Board of Trustees. James earned a B.A. in Experimental Filmmaking from Syracuse University and a M.A. in Art Education from New York University. In addition to teaching, James has an active painting practice and is currently writing and illustrating a graphic novel about his cat.
StephenMacGillivray
High School Media Arts Teacher, Fine Arts Department Chair
Stephen joined the faculty at LREI in 2009 as a film teacher. He teaches Nonfiction and Fiction Video Production, Motion Graphics, and Introduction to Film Production. Stephen earned a B.A. in Classics from Concordia University in Montreal and an MFA in Screenwriting from Columbia University in New York. In addition to teaching, he has coached tennis and swim teams and serves as a high school advisor. When he is not in class, Stephen produces videos for clients through his production company, Indian Summer Media. His most beloved project by far has been raising his two young daughters, Margaret ‘22 and Grace ‘24.
