The LREI Library enriches and supports the school’s progressive program. Our embedded curriculum develops critical thinking, courage, creativity, and citizenship.
The library, which has facilities at both Charlton and Sixth Avenue, offers a rich collection of approximately 30,000 print volumes, dozens of databases, a growing e- and audio-book presence, and myriad resources for making, creating, and playing.
Our nationally recognized librarians are leaders in the field. They connect students with information, from resources for class projects to books they can’t put down. Exposure to multiple perspectives is a vital component of a democratic society; through informational and recreational reading, whether online or off, our librarians support LREI students as they grow into active citizens.
Library Mission Statement
The library enriches and supports LREI’s progressive mission through access to print and digital resources, development of curriculum, and hands-on experiences. Reading and research provide the cornerstones of our program. Our embedded curriculum develops critical thinking and information seeking skills through collaborative teaching, technology integration, and resource curation. Through enthusiastic reader’s advisory, classroom outreach, and author visits, we tirelessly work toward our shared goal of creating lifelong readers. Our dynamic collection reflects the diversity of our community, our city, and the world. LREI students know our libraries are inclusive spaces where they can discover both themselves and new worlds.
