Jane joined the high school faculty in 2005 as an English teacher. She teaches World Literature and electives in a variety of topics, such as Poetry Writing, Monsters and Misfits, and Immigration and Exile. She also serves as the Chair of the English Department. Jane earned a B.A. in Classics and Comparative Literature from Brown University and an M.F.A in Fiction Writing from NYU.
Anna joined the faculty at LREI in 2020 as an English teacher. Her courses include 10th grade American Literature and a variety of electives such as Epistolary Meditations on Race, Gender & Sexuality in Shakespeare, Contemporary Native American Literature, and Transgender Literature, along with workshops in analytical writing, poetry, and personal essays. Anna attended Swarthmore College and majored in English and Gender & Sexuality Studies, and earned a M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, where she completed a thesis on the benefits of student reflection in the classroom. Outside of class, Anna works with the student newspaper, the Girls of Color affinity group, the Bread Club, and the Gender and Sexuality Alliance, serves as an advisor, and coaches cross country and girls’ basketball.
In addition to library classes for Fours and Kindergarten, Jesse also runs the comic book club for Sixth, Seventh and Eighth grades and teaches the High School class Power and Respnosibility. He taught the graduate course Graphic Novels: Narrative and Sequence at Pratt Institute for four years and is currently a reviewer for Booklist. He is the author of the non-fiction Graphic Novels in Your School Library and the young adult novels Those That Wake and What We Become. Jesse is also a proud alumnus of LREI (class of 1987), which he attended from Fours through Twelfth Grade.
Brian joined the LREI faculty in 2021. He teaches World Literature and electives including Modern and Contemporary American Poetry, Surrealist Literature, Documentary Poetics, as well as writing workshops in various genres. He holds a B.A. in Literary Studies and Writing from The New School and an M.A. in Adolescent English Education from Hunter College. In addition to teaching, he is a SEED co-facilitator, an advisor, and a coach for the high school boys’ soccer team.
Frank has been a member of LREI’s faculty since 2005. He served as a middle school humanities teacher for seven years, followed by four years as an administrator. He is currently a high school English teacher and advisor. Frank attended New York University as both an undergraduate and a graduate student, the latter at the Steinhardt School of Education. Shortly thereafter, he attended Temple University, where he completed a Master of Arts in Literature. In previous years, Frank ran LREI's lower and middle school wrestling teams.
