Alex Perry is a pianist and composer trained in classical, jazz, and contemporary styles. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and a Master of Music degree from The New School's College of Performing Arts. Since moving to New York City in 2013, Alex has taught and performed music, serving as an accompanist for prestigious dance companies such as the Mark Morris Dance Group, American Ballet Theatre, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. In March 2023, he was the rehearsal pianist for Pina Bausch's Tanztheater Wuppertal residency at BAM for their performance of Água.
In addition to his work as an accompanist, Alex composes original music using piano and electronics. His debut album, Indigo Mirror, was released in March 2024 under the name Alexander Baiz. Alex is passionate about teaching and strives to understand and appreciate each student's musical interests and learning style. He has been an instrumental teacher at LREI since 2017.
